Etude electrophoretiquee des proteines du cristallin de sparides et centracanthides mediterraneens ArchiMer
Plchot, Paul; Pollard, David A..
Over the course of the last 20 years, new techniques such as electrophoresis have made it possible to approach the detailed study of proteins; they have found many applications in research on taxonomy. The specificity of serum protein electrophoregrammes, in particular, has been noted by a large number of authors. Nonetheless, the value of serum electrophoresis for taxonomic studies is frequently criticised; indeed, physiological state and environmental conditions can alter the proteinogrammes, by variations in the quantitative distribution of the proteins that are normally present as well as by the formation of new proteins. Under these conditions, we thought it worthwhile to use protein electrophoresis on another tissue. The research work of RABAEY...

Identification des especes du genre Spicara par electrophorese des proteines du cristallin. ArchiMer
Pollard, David A.; Pichot, Paul.
Confusion has arisen over the nomenclature of certain fish of the family Centracanthidia, because of the colour variations due to sexual dichromatism, sexual inversions, protogynous hermaphroditism, and seasonal modifications according to the stage of maturity. A historical survey of nomenclature is presented for species described under the genera Maena, Smaris and Spicara, the last being the most recent. A morphological study and an electrophoretic study of the crystalline lens of the various species involved is described. The techniques and standards used are given. As a result of the study, and bearing in mind the effects of the variations mentioned above, it was concluded from electrophoretic comparisons that only 2 species are valid, Spicara maena and...
